Set within a privately managed cultural park on the outskirts of Heraklion, this cooking experience is unlike any other on the island. The park is built around the legacy of the Minoan civilisation — with a dedicated Minoan Theater, ancient olive trees, a traditional Minoan-era oven and spaces designed for cultural immersion and hands-on activity.
The cooking lesson begins not in a kitchen but with a guided walk through the park — past ancient olive trees, the outdoor Minoan theater and the estate's working agricultural areas — introducing the philosophy, history and raw materials of the Minoan diet before a single ingredient is touched. The context is the lesson: understanding that the food you are about to prepare has been cooked on this island, in essentially the same way, for three and a half thousand years.
Participants then prepare together a full Minoan-inspired menu around the estate's wood-fired Minoan oven: fermented bread with olive oil and oregano, Dakos (the traditional Cretan rusk salad with tomato and feta), Panspermia (a five-legume salad with herbs and nuts), Briam (slow-cooked vegetables with olive oil), and dessert pies with cheese, honey and raki. Local wine and spring water complete the table.
