A few kilometres from the Palace of Knossos, set within a certified organic olive estate in the Archanes hills, this cooking class takes place in the same landscape that has been producing olive oil for millennia. The class is hosted by a member of the family that runs the estate — a detail that makes all the difference between a cooking demonstration and a genuine cultural encounter.
The session begins with a visual introduction to the day's ingredients, followed by hands-on preparation of five traditional Cretan dishes — among them tzatziki, zucchini patties, stuffed vegetables (gemista) and dishes that draw directly on the estate's own olive oil and produce. Participants cook, taste and sit down to eat together, with local wine at the table.
The proximity to the estate's olive mill and groves means that a cooking lesson here can be naturally combined with an olive oil tasting and mill tour — making it one of the most layered single-location gastronomy experiences in central Crete.
Easily combined with the olive oil tasting and mill visit at the same estate
