The starting point for the scenic path to the cave of Saint John the Hermit, the ruins of Katholiko — the oldest monastery in Crete — and a series of rock-cut hermitages and cave shrines. The walk through the ravine is one of the most complete pilgrimage circuits available anywhere in Greece.
